PROGRAM:

Now, more than any other time in recent history, the real estate development industry needs skilled leaders with a rigorous practical and academic background in the areas of real property design, construction and development, as well as real estate asset management, finance and law.

Auburn University’s Executive Master of Real Estate Development program delivers a solid, broad-based graduate-level education that produces students with outstanding leadership skills and substantial professional knowledge. The program emphasizes best development practices related to environmental sustainability, social responsibility, economic resilience, financial feasibility, deal structuring, and design excellence.

The Auburn University MRED program is an executive graduate degree offered jointly by the College of Architecture, Design and Construction and the College of Business. One of its primary strengths is the merging of the disciplines housed in these two colleges.

The program is aimed at practicing professionals with a minimum of three years of full-time professional experience in real estate development or in a related field such as mortgage banking or construction. Alternatively, an applicant may qualify for admission by having five years full-time postbaccalaureate professional work experience. The program recruits students who have demonstrated excellence in their professional careers and who have the potential to become future industry leaders.

AUMRED combines short-term residencies on the Auburn campus with an intense distance learning component. Each semester, faculty and students participate in a four-day field trip to a cutting-edge real estate development project. One of the six field trips is study abroad. Typically this occurs in the sixth semester and lasts for seven days. This blended-delivery education format makes it possible for each class to build collaborative relationships and encourages direct interaction between faculty and students.
